On this beautiful 70 degree day the Troopers prepared the horses for travel at the 2nd Co. Governor's Horse Guard headquarters in Newtown, CT. Followed by departing for Brookfield, CT to Gurski Farm where they readied the horses to ride in the Memorial Day Parade.
The parade sponsored by the Brookfield Lion's Club was proceeded by a ceremony at Williams Park in honor of those who have died serving our country. Participating in the ceremony were Brookfield Police Chief James (Jay) Purcell, Rev. George O'Neill of St Joseph's Church in Brookfield, First Selectman Steve Dunn, State Rep. Stephen Harding, and Celtic Cross Pipes and Drums from Danbury, CT. As a wreath was placed at the foot of the memorial the American flag was lowered to half staff.
Leading the 2nd Company Governor's Horse Guard were MAJ Jim Marrinan and MAJ Gordon Johnson.
