In honor of Memorial Day The 2nd Company Governors Horse Guard led by 2LT Jennifer Mazzara participated in the Brookfield, CT parade sponsored by the Brookfield Lion's Club.
Preparations for the parade began at Horse Guard headquarters in Newtown, CT. After loading the horses into the trailer everyone made their way to the historical preservation site of the Gurski Farm in Brookfield to finish preparations.
The Brookfield Historical Society located along the parade route held their annual Strawberry Festival with entertainment provided by the Billy Michael's Jazz for Juniors Band.
Prior to the start of the parade town officials and veterans held the Ceremony of Remembrance to Honor the town of Brookfield, CT, and the Nation's war dead.
Temperatures were in the mid 80's, but blue skies brought out parade viewers. It was wonderful to hear resounding applause as the troopers and horses passed by.
Four new recruits graduating June 2019 walked in their first parade with some having the honor of pushing the honey bucket.
