It was magnificent weather for the Battalion Review held at the headquarters of The 2nd Company Governors Horse Guard in Newtown, CT. Each year the Governor’s Guards rotate taking a turn to host  the other units of the Connecticut State Guard.

In attendance were The First Company Governors Horse Guard, Commandant MAJ Zaczynski; First Company Governors Foot Guard, Commandant MAJ Boudreau; and Second Company Foot Guard, Commandant MAJ Greenalch.

Commandant MAJ Marrinan of The Second Co Governors Horse Guard greeted MG Evon, and MAJ Kelleher who arrived by Black Hawk helicopter in the lower field next to the CT Army National Guard Military Working Dog Training Facility.

2GHG was also honored by the attendance of BG Savage Ret., COL Bonaccorso the Military Administrative and Programs Officier from the CT Military Department, and Commissioner Thomas J. Saadi from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

2GHG PFC Lynott was promoted to 2LT, and SGT Barkowski was  promoted to 1LT by MG Evon and MAJ Marrinan (photo 040). Much to his surprise former Commandant of 2GHG MAJ Gordon J. Johnson was promoted to LTC. Assisting in attaching his epaulettes was LTC Johnson's wife Susan Johnson (photo 052).

A Riderless Horse Memorial Service was held in honor of the men from the 2GHG who died 100 years ago when they were called up to serve in WWI. Symbolizing their deaths each horse wore a pair of boots in the stirrups backwards. There are two cell phone videos in with the photographs of the horses coming in (after photo 084, then leaving (after photo 125).
