Over 700 attendees enjoyed the annual 2nd Company Governors Open House held on Horse Guard Headquarter grounds in Newtown, CT. There was something for everyone with vendors, horsemanship displays, pet adoptions, food, Horse Guard history display, military display, silent auction, bouncy house, games, and pony rides for the kids. Also sponsored by the Friends of the Horse Guard the "Sponsor a Herd" fundraiser was launched.

The event began with the firing of a canon, and the singing of The National Anthem by Horse  Guard Trooper SGT Amanda Bures

Master of Horse, David Loda, with 17 year old horse Huckleberry. While riding Huckleberry over a jump David Loda sliced an eggplant with his saber.

Rebecca Howard Hathaway, Sandy Hook Equestrian Center worked with Horse Guard horse Kramer age 9. Kramer was searching for the football. Following Kramer she worked with her horse Kokopelli age 15.

Rescue group Because 4 Paws was quite busy all day as who can resist puppies and kittens ready for adoption. Hopefully some found their forever home.

Also ready for adoption was a horse brought to the event by the dedicated rescue group Rising Starr Horse Rescue.
