Newtown, Connecticut's first Arts Festival was held on the beautiful grounds of Fairfield Hills covering three acres. After two years of planning, members of the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission presented a two day family friendly event with over 4000 attendees. With four tented workshops and demonstrations occurring simultaneously each hour ranging from music, dance, and lectures, to kid's activities there was something for everyone. In addition there was a substantial art/craft, and farmer's market. Next to D.G Beers Boulevard food vendors offered assorted delights from the standard hamburgers and hot dogs to fresh bakery products and elk stew. The center field was turned into a temporary sculpture garden created by artist Ethan Currier of Sticks and Stones Farm. On Saturday dancers from The Graceful Planet offered a series of living sculptures which accompanied the stone sculptures. Also on display in that area was a large powder-covered steel sculpture by Jim Travers of Sandy Hook. On Saturday attendees were surprised by Newtown's first Flash Mob.
Photos are organized in the order of the event starting with setting up on Sept. 14th.
Thanks to all who organized and brought this wonderful Newtown event to life!
